Promotions - Tiered

A tiered promotion applies a discount based on purchase quantity of eligible items. Typically, the more purchased, the greater the discount applied. When using Tiered as the Promotion Type, on the Reward Rules screen, users can define a tiered set of discount prices, amounts or percentages. As each "tier" is reached, the discount percentage for that tier is applied to all the quantities. This enables the customer to "step up" to ever-larger discount levels.

Validation Rules
When creating a Tiered Promotion, on the Validation Rules screen, create an Item Filter and select the items that will be discounted. You can optionally enter the Item Subtotal that must be met. The Sale Items checkbox is selected and cannot be cleared. The Quantity is set to 0 and cannot be changed.

When setting up a Tiered promotion, these validation options are also available.

  • Click the Coupon checkbox to define a list of coupon codes. If a customer presents one of the coupon codes at POS, the rule is validated.
  • Click the Customer checkbox to define a customer filter. If a Bill To customer that matches the entered criteria is entered on the transaction, the rule is validated.

Reward Rules
This discount type enables you to enter an item quantity and the discount amount, percentage, or price that will be applied when a promotion item is entered at that quantity. Assign a different discount amount to each quantity level. When each defined quantity is reached, the entire set of items is discounted as defined for the level reached.
