Cancel Transaction

You can cancel a transaction a transaction in progress. When cancelling a transaction, users can either place the transaction on hold or discard the transaction. A requirement for canceling a transaction is that all tenders taken must be removed. For EFT tenders like credit card, debit card, and gift card, it may not be possible to remove the tender; instead the user must do an item return. Discarded transactions remain in the database and can be viewed in Pending Transaction Lookup. Users should also know that if they close the browser while a transaction is in progress, the transaction is not cancelled; instead, the transaction is saved to Pending Transactions.
The POS - Cancel Transaction permission controls the ability of employees to access the Cancel button on POS transactions. If a user does not have the POS - Cancel Transaction permission, the Cancel button is disabled.
To cancel a transaction:

  1. Remove tenders taken (if any).
  2. Touch or click the Cancel button on the bottom menu of the transaction screen.
  3. A prompt is displayed. Click Yes to discard the transaction. Click Hold to put the transaction on hold. Click No to return to the transaction.
