Node Preferences - Touch Menu - Touch POS Options

The RP Prism Touch POS feature provides retailers in high-volume, fast paced environments with an efficient way to service customers.  RP Prism Touch Menus are programmable menu buttons that provide fast one-touch item selection at point of sale, increasing the speed of your transactions, leading to more efficient point of sale operations. 
When creating buttons, you see exactly how they will appear on the screen.  Each button can be designed with a unique label, picture, and/or color. 
Basic Steps for Touch Menus

  1. Plan the number of menus and buttons that are needed.
  2. Create menus for each subsidiary (Preferences & Settings > Touch Menu > Menu Designer).
  3. Edit menus by adding item buttons and/or navigation buttons (Preferences & Settings > Touch Menu > Menu Designer).
  4. Assign the menu you want to be the first (default) menu users see when they access Touch Menus.
  5. When performing transactions in RP Prism, select the Touch Menus button to access the menus and item buttons.

When configuring touch menu preferences, you can define various default options including the default menu that is displayed when accessing the Touch POS area, maximum number of buttons per page, default labels for the main menu and menu navigation buttons and the default appearance for item buttons and navigation buttons.

Menu Settings

Setting Description
Default Touch Menu Select the touch menu that will be displayed when a user presses the Touch Menus button on the RP Prism transaction screen.
Buttons per Page Enter the maximum number of buttons that should be displayed on a single page.
Button Label Field Select the field that will be displayed in the button label of touch menu buttons. Default = Desc 1
Main Menu Button Label Enter the label that should appear on the default button used to navigate to the Main menu.
Previous Menu Button Label   Enter the label that should appear on the default button used to navigate to the previous menu.
Next Page Button Label Enter the label that should appear on the button used to navigate to the next page.
Previous Page Button Label  Enter the label that should appear on the default button that is used to navigate to the previous page.

Button Appearance Settings

Setting Description
Default Item Button Appearance  
Background Select the background color to use for the default item buttons.
Font Color Select the font (text) color to use for default item buttons.
Height Enter the height (in pixels).
Width Enter the width (in pixels).
Default Navigation Button Appearance  
Background Select the default background color for buttons used to navigate between menus.
Font Color Select the font (text) color to use for default item buttons.
Height Enter the desired height (in pixels) of the default navigation buttons.
Width Enter the desired default width (in pixels) of navigation buttons.

New Touch Menu
Select the Create New Menu radio button.    
Type a name for the menu and then press or left-mouse-click Create Menu. The menu is added to the list of menus you have created.    
Create item and navigation buttons for the new menu.    

New Item Button
You can create as many buttons as needed.
You can customize the appearance of the default item and navigation buttons, including: Button label,  Background color, Font (text) color and Dimensions (height and width).
Select a menu for the new button.
Click Create Button.
Select or enter information for the button.
In the Appearance area, modify the background color, font color, height and width, if needed.  The Button Preview shows how the button will look. The button is added to the list of buttons.
Create additional buttons in the same manner. When finished, click the Save & Exit button.    

Item Lookup
To assign an item to an item button, navigate to the Item Lookup field. Type information for the Lookup Type you selected (e.g. Description 1). As you type, a search is made for matching items. Select the item to assign.
Add Navigation Button

Select a menu from the drop-down.
Click Create Button.
In the Type area, select Navigation as the Button Type. You can select Navigate to Existing Menu and then select the desired menu, or navigate to New Menu and type the Menu Name.
The button is added to the list of buttons for the menu. When finished, touch (or click) Save & Exit.     

Edit a Button
You can make changes to any existing buttons. For example, you can change the label or the item with which the button is associated.
Select the menu with the button you want to edit.
Double-click the button that you want to edit.In the dialog, make any necessary changes to the button.
Click the Save & Exit button.    

Delete a Menu
Select the menu you want to delete from the drop-down. Click the Delete Menu button.
A message explains that all buttons for the menu will be removed. Click OK to proceed.

Using Touch Menus at POS

To create a sale transaction:
1. Click the Touch POS button on the main POS screen.
2. Click the button for the desired item or navigate to the desired menu. The item is added to the transaction.
3. Add other items being purchased in the same manner. Change item and/or transaction details as needed.
4. Tender and update the transaction.   

To create an order or return in Touch POS
1. Start a new Touch POS document.
2. List the item(s) on the document.
3. Click on the item (The item buttons will be displayed).
4. Click the "Item Type" button (Item type popup screen will appear).
5. You can select the "Apply to all items" checkbox then click the "Order" or "Return" button. 
6. If you selected "Order," all the items on the document will be changed, and the "Order Details" button will be activated.
