2.5.1.7 What's New
This topic has information about new features and functionality added in Prism 2.5.1.7.
Prism App (Windows and Android)
The Prism App can be used for POS activities, including sales, returns, orders, promotions and loyalty. Previously, Prism was only available as a web client application that runs in a browser and connects to a Prism server. That version continues to be available.
The app offers the following key benefits:
- Easy to deploy
- Superior user experience
- Improved security
Download the Prism app from https://my.retailpro.com/Solutions/RPPrism/Downloads/
Limitations
You cannot view/create/edit inventory or back-office documents.
Certain POS functionality is not available in the initial release, including:
- Structured Z-Out
- Send Sale
- Sublocations
- Multi store/Multi sub
- Genius EFT - Shopper Display
- Certain preferences do not apply to the new client or work differently in the new client. For example, "Prompt for Store/Central Credit when Available" does not display a prompt to users. Instead, upon tender users can see in the UI if the customer has available store credit.
Permissions from the Legacy Client are Enforced
The app enforces the permissions defined in the legacy client Employee > Groups area. If a user does not have access to a program area or feature, or if an override user is required, the user will see a notification or prompt.

Round Tax Method Preference for VAT
DevTrack ID#28376
The Round Tax preference is now available when using VAT as the Tax Method. Previously, the Round Tax preference was disabled when using VAT as the Tax Method. This change is important for retailers in Japan where the consumption tax is a type of VAT. The currency (yen) does not have any decimals; therefore, tax must be rounded.
When tax rounding is on, the individual item tax amounts are rounded then summed for the tax subtotal. This change does not apply to Sales Tax -Multi or VAT -Multi.
Enable Tax Rounding
1. Navigate to Admin Console > Node Preferences > Taxes > General:
2. Select the Round Tax Amount checkbox.
- Normal: Tax $ is rounded up or down, whichever is closer.
- Up: Tax $ is always rounded up.
- Down: Tax $ is always rounded down.
3. Save the changes.
Important: Set the number of tax decimals to zero if rounding tax. Set the number of tax decimals in Admin Console > Node Preferences > Language & Locale.
Node Preferences > Taxes > General: Round Tax Amount when Tax Method is VAT:
