Line Display
A line (pole) display shows item information (e.g. price, description) as each item is scanned. You can define the messages used by Line Display in Prism preferences at the Corporate, Subsidiary, or Store level. Select Preferences & Settings > Hardware > Line Display.
You can define one or two lines of the following:
- Default message (e.g. company/corporate info or greeting)
- Item information (e.g. description and price)
- Total Display (e.g. Subtotal and Transaction Total)
Line Display Preferences

Configuring Device Name and Time Out
In HAL Settings > Line Display, you can set a time-out for the line display. By default, the character set for line display is 1252 (Western European); however, you can edit the value to a different character set value. Note: Please see the Prism Genius document for information about configuring line display for the Cayan Genius CED.
Shopper Display
The Shopper Display is a special version of line display for Cayan Genius devices. Because of the limited screen space on the Genius device, only limited information is displayed. The Shopper Display setting, if configured, enables the display of a selected item description field (Description 1 - Description 4). In Preferences & Settings > Hardware > Line Display, in the Shopper Display Description field, select the item description field that will be displayed on the Genius device screen when using the "Shopper Display" feature. Keep in mind that only the first 18 characters of the description will be displayed on the Genius screen, due to the limited screen space available.
