Global Preferences - Season

Retailers can configure Prism to adjust the price of an item based on seasonal demands. An advantage of seasonal pricing is that the price for an item is set high during periods of high demand and lowered as seasonal demand drops off to clear inventory to make room for the current season's products. Pricing for seasonal holiday products, such as those connected with Thanksgiving and Christmas, are frequently reduced the day after the holiday to clear inventory.
In this area, define a set of non-overlapping seasons. When combined with price levels and markdowns, the defined seasons allow for "seasonal pricing" in which different prices are used for different seasons. For each season, define a three-letter season code, a season name, and define the Start and End dates.
Basic Steps for Seasonal Pricing

  1. In Admin Console > Global Preferences > Seasons, define Seasons and assign a begin / end date for those seasons.
  2. In Admin Console > Node Preferences > Merchandise > Pricing > Price Levels, select the option Use Seasonal Pricing and define price levels.
  3. In Prism Inventory, for each item that needs seasonal pricing, display the item record and navigate to the Price/Cost tab. Assign a Season to individual Price Levels.
  4. Use Price Manager to adjust prices. While adjusting prices, select the Season and Price Level to which the change will be applied. When updating the markdown, confirm the Season and Price Level.
  5. When the markdown is applied, the item's Price Levels table in Inventory is updated.
