Replacing Server at the POA and Store: Best Practices for Retail Pro Prism 2.x
POA Server Replacement with Same Hostname (Oracle)
Old POA:
1. Unjoin the store from the OLD POA and uncheck the profile links.
2. Stop all services (Oracle & Prism) and take a cold backup, including
-
Oracle Data: [Drive]:\Oracle\oradata\RproODS
-
WebClient Path: C:\ProgramData\RetailPro\Server\WebClient
3. Remove the OLD POA from the network or turn it off.
New POA Install:
1. Change the hostname to match the OLD POA.
2. Install the same build as the OLD POA Prism.
-
Note: Ensure the install drive is the same as the old POA.
3. Stop all Oracle and Prism services.
4. Rename [Drive]:\Oracle\oradata\RproODS and replace it with the backup from the OLD POA.
5. Start Oracle and Prism services.
6. Run Prism Proxy.exe and verify that you can log in without issues.
7. Once logged in:
-
Open Web TTK and rejoin the store from the new POA.
-
Add Former Server to 1-RPS.
-
Ensure successful joining and rejoin the resources to establish replication connections.
8. Once everything is confirmed to be working, take another cold backup of the working POA.
9. From here, you can add more former stores and proceed.
