EFT Link: Installing the EFT (Monetra) Client software on a machine other than the Monetra server.

Normally, when using the EFT Link to process EFT authorizations, the EFT Link Installer will install multiple Monetra packages on one machine, typically, but not necessarily, the Retail Pro server. This includes, among others, the Monetra Client, which allows you to run/void/force transactions, run reports and settle the batch.

We have received several queries regarding whether it is possible to install the EFT (Monetra) Client on a different machine than the server, so that a specific person can run reports or settle batches on their machine without having to log into the EFT Link server.

In order to do this, please follow the steps below:

1. Run the EFT Link Installer as distributed in the Retail Pro Core Update (RP8) or Maintenance Pack (RP9) and install the complete EFT Link package. When prompted, point to the correct offline_license.xml file for this Retail Pro customer.

2. After the installation is complete, go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and remove the Monetra Administrator, the Monetra Manager and the Monetra Payment Engine (Not necessarily in that order; the packages left should be the Monetra Client and the Monetra Installer) 1

3. Go to Start > All Programs > Monetra > Client Interfaces, and click on the Monetra Client.

  1. In the ‘Host' field, type in the IP address of the server running the Monetra Payment Engine,
  2. Type in the correct Port number 2
  3. As "Method", select SSL 3
  4. For User/Password, type in the appropriate"‘User/Password" that you created in the Monetra Administrator. It may be better to create a Sub-User in the Monetra Client and use that login 4
  5. Click ‘Save Profile' to save the setup information.
  6. Click ‘Connect'. You should now be logged in to your central Monetra database.

Notes:

1 You do not have to remove these packages, but if left, they would be useless without configuration, and might cause confusion as to what the real Monetra server is. The Monetra Client on the EFT Link server can be removed, although you do not have to.

2 By default the port numbers for SSL are 8444 and/or 8666.

3 In order to stay PCI compliant, you must select SSL, not TCP/IP.

4 If you just want to allow this user to run transaction reports and settle batches, please refer to the EFT Link documentation on creating Sub-Users and assigning permissions.
