How to Uninstall and Reinstall RabbitMQ

You may encounter an issue when attempting to start RabbitMQ service. In certain instances this will require an uninstall and reinstall of Rabbit MQ (by reinstalling the Prism server).

This process should be followed only if you are instructed to do so by the Retail Pro technical support team.

Uninstall RabbitMQ

1. Make Tech Toolkit (TTK) backup
2. Turn off ECM and any other scheduled activities
3. Back out all workstations on the server
4. Back up \confs, \WebClient, and \Modules in the programdata\Retailpro folder
5. Back up Apache\Conf in apache folder
6. Uninstall Rabbit and Erlang
7. Rename the erl and RabbitMQ Server folders (if present) in C: \ Program Files (x86)
8. Rename the RabbitMQ folder in C: \ ProgramData \ RetailPro \ Server
9. Delete the following registries (always export them first just in case):

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Ericsson
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Retail Pro \ Prism \ Erlang
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Retail Pro \ Prism \ RabbitMQ
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Ericsson \ Erlang \ ErlSrv \ 1.1 \ RabbitMQ

10. Reboot. This is required to ensure that any DLLs marked for deletion are removed prior to the reinstallation of RabbitMQ.

Reinstall RabbitMQ

1. Turn off ECM and any other scheduled activities
2. Install Prism Server
3. Restore \confs, \WebClient, and \Modules in the programdata\Retailpro folder
4. Restore Apache\Conf in apache folder
5. Reboot in the proper sequence

Confirm

1. Confirm Rabbit started
2. Confirm connectivity of the workstations
3. Confirm RabbitMQ console is receiving changes
4. Confirm that changes are flowing
