Import Items on Documents
You can import a list of UPCs, ALUs, or Item Numbers to populate the item list on a document. Importing a list of items is especially useful when a local store has only a single or limited number of POS systems. Documents like purchase orders, vouchers, adjustments, etc. can take a long time to complete and interfere with sales activity. Using the import feature, a user can create a list of items on a non-POS computer (e.g., a laptop with Excel) and then import the list into a purchase order or other document when the POS system is not busy.
To import items, click the Option button while working on a document and select Import Items.
Click Import Items and then select an existing mapping schema from the drop-down or click New to create a new schema. If defining a new schema, enter the name and click Continue.
The Document Mapping Schema screen is similar to the PI Mapping Schema screen.
Select whether the import map will be fixed length, or comma-delimited (the delimiter can be a comma,
Each line in the file must also end with the delimiter. Example: If comma-delimited and the imported file contains 1 line per item imported, then each line must end with a comma like: 1234567890123,10,
- If fixed length, then the NEXT ITEM START field is the next character after the last in a line.
- If the import file is fixed-length, but 1 item per line, then NEXT ITEM START is the count after the last character in the first line.
- Define options (Item Start, Length, Count Start, etc.) as needed. The options vary for fixed-length and delimited files.
Select the item identifier that the map uses: UPC, ALU, or Item No.

Notes:
If more than 500 line items are imported, then the import will not split items into individual lines
If Items Fail to Import
If any items fail to import, Prism displays a modal that explains the reason why the import failed. Based on the description, fix the problem and then try the import again.
