Language and Locale (Regional Settings)

Retail Pro is used by retailers in more than 80 countries. RP Prism is designed to be translated and used in any language. Every label, description and message in the RP Prism interface can be fully translated into any language or modified to the retailer's specific needs.
Currently, English, Spanish and French are available for use with RP Prism. Users can set a default language in Workstation Preferences. When using a translation, all the field labels, buttons and messages are displayed in the selected language.

Set a default language:

  1. Select Preferences & Settings > Language and Locale.
  2. Select a Default Language from the drop-down.
  3. Tap or click Save.

Regional Settings
RP Prism is designed for use on a global basis; however, different regions of the world have different requirements and accepted practices for things such as:
Date and time formats
Number of decimals for price, cost and tax
Whether to use a comma or a period to separate groups of numbers
The currency symbol to use and its position

When installing the RP Prism server, users must select a default language and default region for regional settings. The region that is selected during installation determines the defaults for date, time, decimals, etc. These default settings can be edited, as needed, in the Regional Settings area of RP Prism preferences. Users are advised to exercise caution in making changes to regional settings and to carefully consider the potential impact of the changes on all users of the system.

Choosing Default Language, Region during Installation
When installing RP Prism, users can select a default language and region for the installation. The selections you make at installation determine the default settings for language, date/time format, number of decimals, etc.

Editing Regional Settings
Changing regional settings does not have any effect on the data stored in the data base. However, changing regional settings affects how the user will see information, including sales and tax values. Any changes to regional settings should be done with care and consideration of how the changes will impact users. For example, users in North American will likely be extremely confused if regional settings were set to use a period instead of a comma as the group separator.
Select Preferences & Settings and then select the Language & Locale node.
Touch or click the "Use Custom" check box.
Make any needed changes to the available settings. Save the changes.
