Refer to the following table for information about the preferences in this area.

Preference Description
Margins Affect Select either Price or Cost to have changes to Margin affect that value.
Style Description Field Select which descriptive field to use for defining styles: Desc 1, Desc 2 or Both.
The descriptive field(s) you choose, combined with the DCS Code and Vendor Code fields, define the style and make it unique
Default Maximum Discount Each item can be assigned a maximum discount percentage in its inventory record (Max Discount % field). The maximum discount percentage is the maximum amount that can be entered in the Disc % field when the item is listed on a receipt. Enter the maximum discount percentage that will be allowed for new items. Enter as a number, without the "%" sign. The percentage you enter here does not impact existing items.
Note: If a user tries to discount an item beyond its maximum discount, Prism will adjust the discount to be no more than the maximum allowed percentage.
Populate Max Discount From

This preference is for backward compatibility with Retail Pro 9. When a user lists an item on a transaction and tries to apply a discount to that item, Prism checks to make sure the value does not exceed the Maximum Discount % entered in the item's Inventory record. Prism will populate the Max Discount % field with either the Max Discount % 1 or Max Discount % 2 value from the RPSODS INVN_SBS_ITEM table.
Max Discount %: If selected, the Max Discount % field in Prism Inventory is populated with the Max Discount % 1 value.
Max Accumulated Discount: If selected, the Max Discount % field in Prism Inventory is populated with the Max Discount % 2 value.
For previous Retail Pro 9 users that need the preference, configure the preference in 1.14.7 or earlier to the desired setting.
For new Prism users, changing this setting from the default risks losing what they have set up if the user doesn't realize the field was switched and then the user adds new inventory.

Enable Cost Difference Threshold If you select the Enable Cost Difference Threshold feature, the Cost Difference Threshold field becomes editable. If the Enable Cost Difference Threshold checkbox is not selected, then this field is read-only. Default = Disabled. If this preference is selected, when editing the Cost field in Inventory, if the new Cost differs from the old Cost by more than the specified percentage, a warning will be displayed that shows the percentage difference. You will still be allowed to save the Cost change.
Alert when Item Price differs with Style Price If selected, an alert will be displayed to users when a change is made to an item's price such that the price is different from other members of the same style.
Allow Negative Quantities When enabled, allows manual change of item quantity to negative values.
